What Is Ozone & Why Use It?

  • It does not provide a residual disinfectant effect in distribution systems (unlike chlorine), so in many water applications some post‑treatment (e.g. chlorination) may still be required
  • Some organic byproducts (aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids) can form, depending on water quality
  • Ozone is relatively insoluble in water, so effective mixing and contact design are critical
  • Proper system design—including gas feed preparation, ozone contactors, off‑gas destruction, and monitoring—is essential to safe, efficient operation.

Bright Blue / Bright Blue CCS (Commercial / Bottling)

The Bright Blue line is designed for high-demand industrial applications, especially in the bottled water, beverage, dairy, and wine bottling industries.

The Bright Blue CCS system is a fully automated ozone treatment solution built to Coca-Cola specifications, offering remote control, safety features, and robust control logic.

These systems typically aim for defined ozone contact times and residual ozone levels (e.g. 0.5 ppm residual after a few minutes) to achieve high log reductions in microbial load.

Indigo & Azure (Domestic / Light Commercial)

For smaller or continuous water treatment applications, Wassertec offers the Indigo and Azure ozone generators.

Azure is built for domestic and light commercial use, with modular ozone modules (1, 2, 4 modules) and durable materials suited for indoor or sheltered outdoor installation.

Depending on feed gas (ambient air, dry air, or oxygen), the ozone output scales (e.g. up to ~7 g/h using 95 % oxygen).

Combined systems include pumps, venturi injectors, ozone‑resistant components (stainless steel, Teflon, sintered alumina), and control interfaces.

UVO (Air / Odour Treatment)

For air and odour sanitization, Wassertec offers the UVO (Ultra Violet Ozone) generators.

These are intended for indoor environments to eliminate odors, airborne pathogens, and chemical residues:

UV‑based ozone generation is better suited for air treatment compared to corona discharge which is more efficient for water treatment

Oxygen Generation & Supporting Systems

Since ozone is generated from oxygen (or ambient air), Wassertec also developed their own OX5 oxygen generator, launched in 2005.

The OX5 can deliver ~5 L/min of high-purity oxygen (> 93 %) from compressed air using molecular sieves, supporting higher ozone yields in ozone systems.

This integration ensures that Wassertec’s ozone systems are optimized end to end—from oxygen feed to ozone generation to delivery and safety systems.
